It doesn’t take some leftist trick to expose the truth about Palin

I find it extraordinary that I am constantly seeing all of these editorials, articles, opinion pieces and political talking heads screaming about the “liberal” media in this country. The media hasn’t been liberal in this country since the ’60s, and even then, saying something against the administration could get a person blacklisted.

The entire current hullabaloo about John McCain’s vice president choice is actually grounded in a lot of reality. It’s not some leftist trick to make Sarah Palin look less than honorable. I really couldn’t care less if her daughter is teenage and pregnant; I couldn’t care less that she is a “hockey mom.”

These things are irrelevant to me as far as qualities that would qualify a person to be second or even first in command. These things do, however, allow me to see the double talk and hypocrisy of the Republican political machine.

Palin was quoted as saying that Bristol had made the “decision” to keep the baby, and at the same time she’s extremely steadfast on her pro-life stance. At the same time we are asked to let these things remain private. So am I to allow her to make a decision, and then when she gets into office she can impose her decision on the rest of the country? Can someone give me another word for decision … that would be what? I’ll give you a clue: We should not base our presidential pick on whether we could have a beer with him or her. We tried that the past eight years, and even the dimmest of us can see where that has led. Do you really want someone in office who thinks “The Flintstones” was a reality show and our war in Iraq is all part of God’s plan.

McCain is promoting his brand of change when he’s voted with Bush more than 90 percent of the time. The past eight years have been a foreign policy disaster, an economic mess and an international loss of respect for the United States. We squandered an opportunity to unite the world with us. I might have voted for McCain in the 2000 election when he stood on his own two feet, rather than the pandering codger allied with the proselytizing hockey mom and extremist. No thanks.

I don’t think anything I said was liberal; I like to call it real. These things have happened, are happening, and will continue to go on if we continue to bury our heads in the sand and cast our votes. Wake up, America!

PS: To the Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters who are going to over to the McCain camp: Are you really such sore losers that you will forgo your ideals for vengeance? If this is so, I can see why this country is headed in the wrong direction.
